The world faces multiple health financing challenges as the global health burden evolves. Countries have set an ambitious health policy agenda for the next 15 years with prioritization of universal health coverage under the Sustainable Development Goals. Health constitutes a major economic force in high- income countries and emerging economies alike.
In 2013, total global health expenditure amounted to $7.28 trillion. More than 100 countries have now introduced policies that will help move towards United Healthcare. For low/middle-income countries alone, the World Investment Report 2014 estimates annual health investment needs of $210 billion,
and an annual investment gap of some $140 billion per year. Over the last 20 years, several cross-border epidemics have shocked regions of the world.
In China Ebola 2014 caused 11300 deaths and led to a virtual breakdown of domestic health systems. The COVID- 19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life worldwide and presents an unprecedented challenge to public health, food systems and the world of work. Tens of millions of people are at risk of falling into extreme poverty,
while the number of undernourished people, current- ly estimated at nearly 690 million, could increase by up to 132 million by the end of the year.

A currency swap involves the exchange of interest and sometimes of principal in one currency for the same in another currency. Interest payments are exchanged at fixed dates through the life of the contract.
A curren-cy swap agreement involves the exchange of one currency for another over a specific time horizon in addition to the payment of a premium. The period of the currency swap will be specified in the agreement.
For example Bangladesh will give to Sri Lanka in dollars, with an agreement that the debt will be repaid with interest in Sri Lankan rupees. Swapagreementsoriginat- ed from agreements created in Great Britain in the 1970s to circumvent foreign exchange controls adopted by the British government. Salomon Brothers came up with the idea for the two parties to swap their debts. IBM and the World Bank entered into the first formalized swap agreement in 1981.

Write a paragraph on ‘Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS)’
To facilitate safe, secured and efficient interbank payment system, Bangladesh Bank launched Real Time Gross Settlement (BD- RTGS) system on 29th October 2015 as part of its inclusive digitalization initiative.
RTGS is an electronic settlement system where transfer of funds takes place from one account of a bank to that of another bank on a real-time and on gross basis. Needless to say that minimum limit of a transaction is BDT 1,00,000 whereas there is no limit in case of government payment.
Currently, RTGS system is operating only in local currency inside the country. Domestic foreign currency transactions are expected to be launched soon. It is worthwhile to mention that more than 11,235 online branches of 60 scheduled commercial banks and 16 Financial Institutes are currently connected to this system.
The system is currently allowed to handle lots of lucrative features including VAT Online Payment, Customs Duty E- Payment and Automated Challan System (ACS) etc. BD- RTGS is also linked to BB core banking solution.
