Liberation War and Independence, the most glorious chapter in the history of Bangladesh. And one of the heroes of this glorious chapter. He is our Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He is the great hero, the great leader, the father of our nation.

Sheikh Mujib became inseparable from Bengalis and Bangladesh. From the remote area of Tungipara, he became a hero in the national arena, then spread his glory on the world stage as a great hero.

The liberation of the exploited, oppressed and downtrodden people of Bengal was the main goal and ideal of his life. He has struggled all his life to achieve that goal.

He has been repeatedly imprisoned and tortured while talking about the rights of the people of Bengal. He lived for only 54 years (1920-1975). His political life spanned 30 years beyond childhood and adolescence. Thirteen (13) years have been spent in prison. He was imprisoned a total of 18 times. He fought 24 cases with courage.

Has come back from the brink of death twice. In fact, prison-torture became a regular part of his life. Bangabandhu’s personal life had nothing to say. His thoughts, thoughts, meditations, dreams, actions were all for the welfare of the people of the country. His whole life was dedicated to Bengalis so he never feared the gallows. Bangabandhu’s ideal in politics was sacrifice, not consumption. Bangabandhu gave the highest place to principles and ideals in politics. The aim of his politics was not merely to go to power, it was aimed at realizing the rights of Bengalis or achieving national liberation.

The main philosophy of Bangabandhu’s politics was to achieve economic and political liberation of Bengalis. He was the undisputed leader of Bengal. Throughout his life he fought for the rights of the people of Bengal out of greed and despair. He was completely uncompromising on the question of realizing the rights of the people of Bengal.

With extraordinary patience, courage and determination, he has given birth to an independent country by overcoming the Pakistani rulers and exploiters through innumerable ordeals in his long political struggle. Which is rare in the world. His relentless courage, steely determination, devotion to ideals and goals, and strong belief in the unity and solidarity of the people, did not move him to the point of ruthlessly killing him.

Sheikh Hasina, the worthy successor and current Prime Minister of Bangladesh, is working tirelessly to build the golden Bengal that the Father of the Nation dreamed of. By capitalizing on honesty and self-confidence, he is moving forward at a relentless pace with the blessings of Bangabandhu. Hundreds of obstacles all around.

Yet he does not stop. He has transformed Bangladesh into a role model of development with the support of the people of the country. Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League now has no shortage of leaders and workers.

But there is a dearth of politicians who can selflessly dedicate themselves to the service of the people of the country by learning from the ideals and deeds of Bangabandhu. Many of us speak of Bangabandhu in our mouths, we shout slogans in the name of Bangabandhu but we do not hold Bangabandhu’s sacrifice and ideals in our hearts. I support Bangabandhu’s Awami League, not so much in the interest of the individual as the country needs. Today Bangabandhu is not there but his ideal is there. In order to build Bangabandhu’s golden Bengal, every leader and worker of Awami League has to work with honesty and devotion.

We have to awaken in ourselves the philosophy, sacrifice and ideals of Bangabandhu. There is no alternative. Let this be our pledge on the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and the golden jubilee of independence.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of independent Bangladesh, was born on 17 March 1920 in the village of Tungipara in the Gopalganj district. Father Sheikh Lutfar Rahman, mother Sayera Khatun. Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the third child of two brothers and four sons. After completing his primary education at Gimadanga Primary School, he was admitted to Gopalganj Mission High School and matriculated from this school in 1941.

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a charismatic leader who organized an argument and uprising against the British in India, guided the Bengalis of East Pakistan in their resistance to the unjust actions of the postcolonial Pakistani government, and finally helped create the independent nation of Bangladesh in 1971. He headed the Awami League and was the first President of Bangladesh during the Bangladesh Liberation War, and later became Prime Minister in independent Bangladesh. He is popularly referred to as Sheikh Mujib, with the honorary title of Bangabandhu ( Bongobondhu, “Friend of Bengal”). His eldest daughter, Sheikh Hasina, is the present leader of the Awami League and the current (17 march 2015) Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Bangabandhu Sheik Mujibur Rahman was the planner of our nation and the country by all complexity of the period. Indeed, what we now call Bangladesh was never independent in the most genuine feeling of the term before 1971.

It was Mujib and just Mujib who gave the country a genuine touch of opportunity. It was truly a trek into the long method for the opportunity from full-scale mistreatment through self-sufficiency and home run in which he gave the dynamic lead. He was the courageous warrior of the Language Movement of 1952, the pioneer of the democratic movement of 1962,

the designer of the Six-point Development of 1966, the life-power of the Mass Movement of 1969, the fortunate victor of the election of 1970 and, most importantly, the greatest legend of the Liberation War of 1971. He is undisputedly the organizer of independent Bangladesh and, subsequently, the Father of the Country. After nine long months of bloody war, the sun of Bangladesh’s independence rose.

After the victory of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was released from jail on 10 January 1972. On his return to the country, he took over as Prime Minister on 12 January. And devoted himself to the work of building a war-torn country. But the defeated Hyenas could not accept his success. So the conspiracy started again. When the country was moving forward overcoming all obstacles, it became a victim of domestic conspirators and international circles. On 15 August 1975, Bangabandhu and his family were killed by a soldier. Therefore, the Bengali nation observes the National Day of Mourning on 15th August every year.
